CENTRAL TEXAS CHURCH OF GOD CONSIDERS BUILDING A PERMANENT FACILITY

In August of 2008 the Central Texas Church of God (Currently meeting in the Redman Hall in Waco, Texas) voted to establish a Memorial Building Fund in honor of the deceased founding members of our Congregation. At that time the Church dedicated $5,000 as seed for the new fund and it has since grown to over $8,000.
The move was considered a "long term" and somewhat "back burner" proposal as the Church has enjoyed a good relationship with the current lessor, The Redman Hall Management Team, and has also found the facility to be quite adequate and available for all of our needs.
While we still have a very good relationship with the Redman Management team, there are some changes on the horizon. There was a recent change in management and in November our contract is up for renegotiation.
The Church formed a Building Board Committee of Trustees and that committee is planning to meet soon and discuss options.
This is the original proposal accepted by the Waco Congregation:
Building Fund Proposal
In loving memory and honor of those who have been a part of our fellowship and lie asleep awaiting the Resurrection, I propose we establish a Central Texas Church of God Building Fund for the purpose of collecting funds to build a permanent structure in the Central Texas area to be used as a place of worship of our Creator and a building of service of His people.
I propose that we donate, from our treasury, $5,000 in honor of:
Betty Thomas
Tille Stanislaus
Jim Arthur
Colonel David Lyster
as "seed" and pray that it grows sufficiently to be of service to those who continue in their example of obedience to God and service to their fellow man.
I also propose that we select 4 or 5 trustees and ask them to see that the funds are used only to build a purchase a property for the use of a Sabbath keeping congregation of the Church of God tradition and that they all 4 or 5 be in agreement before the funds are distributed.
The trustees I suggest are from among the younger baptized members of our congregation:
Terry McAdams
Ben Mauldin III
David Heinze
Sherry Dwornik
Brandon Alexander
with the understanding that if one trustee is no longer able to serve that the remaining members select another as soon as possible.
END OF PROPOSAL
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The above proposal was made by Ben Mauldin II and adopted by the Congregation in August of 2008.
One of the proposals for a method of raising funds for the project has been to issue Church Building Bonds.
These bonds would be private and be "sold" at a certain discounted price and be redeemable at face value on or after a certain date in the future, backed by the assets and property as well as the good faith of the Building Board Committee, thus avoiding entanglements with the currently distressed banking community.
We certainly welcome any constructive comments and suggestions or donations.

The following is a personal note from Ben Mauldin:
I feel greatly blessed to be a part of the Church of God and am grateful, always, for the portion of Truth that the Creator has been willing to reveal to me and to my family. I am the beneficiary of His mercy and kindness.
It has been my personal observation over the nearly 40 years of my involvement in the Church of God that one of the greatest failings of our tradition is shortsightedness. And that shortsightedness is made manifest by our lack of providing for the physical needs of those who come after us.
It is my hope and prayer that in this Congregation that we will draw on the vast resource of wealth, knowledge, health and freedom that Our Father has provided and that we will build a house that our children and their children can use and add to and serve their Creator and their peers for years to come. And that when our Savior returns, whether this life goes on for a thousand generations, or whether He comes quickly, we will be found "So Doing".
Thanks to all,
Ben
